The weather here has been so gloomy. Honestly, it’s been 55 and rainy for at least two weeks straight, and I’m not sure this week is going to be much better. That week of beautiful weather in March really fooled us!
James had to work all weekend, but he was able to go in a little later on Saturday so we could check out the Doisneau: Les Halles exhibit at the Hotel de Ville. We tried to go once during the week together, waited an hour just for it to close a couple people before us (boo!) and then James tried again on his day off when it starting pouring (he didn’t have an umbrella and you have to wait outside).
We got there a little after 10am and there was already a huge line, but since it was the last day of the exhibit, we figured we might as well wait. Three hours later, we were inside!
The exhibit featured his pictures of Les Halles, starting in 1933 up to the late 70s/early 80s. Les Halles is the once famous market area in central Paris that was turned into an underground shopping center after a huge rat infestation got out of control. The pictures were absolutely wonderful! (There was only one with rats.)

I’ve been trying to find a place to buy a print or two (the gift shop only had a few postcards left), but I’m not having much luck.
They are currently doing major renovations on the Les Halles area, complete with a fancy canopy and park space. It won’t be finished until 2016 though!
